ILLUMI - SERIES
The fragile three-dimensional work in silk fabric is experienced as a weightless sculpture, almost a bas-relief that wants to detach itself from the wall.
The boundaries between sculpture and painting become blurred due to the layering of the fabric and the resulting colour nuances.
Elements such as daylight, movement, space, colour and the language of the material play a role in the creative process.
In the process of shaping/moulding the silk fabric into a tight frame, I value what happens to the painting on the silk material, that is highly movable and transparant in the beginning but carefully shaped at the end.
What was once dimensional before, folds into a multilayered sculpture.
A RAY OF LIGHT SERIES
Daylight from behind the sculpture of silk, creates an image that emerges from the inside of the work and reveals its inner world.
The artwork series 'Ray of Light' recreated this effect by illuminating an image of the sculpture with a light box from behind.

SURFACE/ (E)SPACE SERIES
Wooden or canvas supports are treated with silk fabric, clay, chalk and hide glue.
The painting technique involves the use of wax crayon.
The application and repeated removal of wax crayon creates layered images.
THE MAGNETIC FIELDS
The 'Magnetic Fields series' is all about the colours.
Colours that interact with one another to create a harmonious whole and achieve a certain atmosphere.
On cardboard, wax crayon is used in many layers of colour on top of one another.
The use of the accordion fold or leporello offers the possibility of creating movement within the colour fields.
As you move past the artwork, the colour fields, as well as the relationships between the colours, shift.
THE CLOUD SERIES
Drawings: liners of charcoal and pencil.
