Multimedia artist Trui Demarcke (1962, Belgium) studied Sculptural Ceramics at the Sint-Lucas high school of arts in Ghent and Industrial Textile Design at the PTI (Provincial Technical Institute) in Kortrijk.

Since 2010 she has been working on sculptures made of silk. The fragile three-dimensional work in silk fabric is experienced as a weightless sculpture, almost a bas-relief that wants to detach itself from the wall. The boundaries between sculpture and painting become blurred due to the layering of the fabric and the resulting colour nuances.

Elements such as daylight, movement, space, colour and the language of the material play a role in the creative process.

In 2019 she made the art book 'Tsimtsoem' (self published, hand sewn and bound, limited edition, printed in the Drukkerij Cultura ,Wetteren). The concept of the book is based on a Hebrew word tsimtsoem (tzimtzum), that refers to the limitation of infinite space, an idea that the artist likes to adhere to in order to transform chaos to order. The book consists of a story accompanied by 24 images.

In 2021 she made the art book 'Alfabet' (self published in Ghent, limited edition) with abstract drawings that evolve into a recognisable portrait of a person in spreads on 26 pages.
